How Gear4EVs works

Gear4EVs (EV accessory deals & price tracking) tracks daily prices and model-generation fitment for Tesla and Rivian accessories. It used to be called FitCheckEV (fitcheckev.com): same data, same price history, new name.

Prices

Once a day a crawler reads each shop's public product catalog (for most shops, the standard Shopify /products.json feed) and stores one price per variant per day. A product's daily price is its cheapest in-stock variant. History starts on the first day we saw the product – we don't import or estimate older prices. The crawler identifies itself, obeys robots.txt and waits between requests.

Fitment

We read the title first, then the shop's tags, then the description, looking for model names (Model 3, Model Y, Model Y L, S, X, Cybertruck), generation words (Highland, Juniper, "legacy") and model-year ranges ("2020–2024", "2025+"). Sentences like "not compatible with…" are ignored.

Rivian: we look for R1T, R1S and R2 (including "R1T/R1S" and common misspellings like "Rivain"), "Gen 1"/"Gen 2" wording, and year ranges. Model year 2025 and later is Gen 2; shops sometimes write the build date ("2024.7+"). "R1"/"R2" on their own only count when the listing is clearly about Rivian, and seat-row wording such as "R1 R2" (row 1, row 2) is ignored. Variant names (e.g. "Gen 2 · Quad") are read too. Headlight, camera, key-fob and lighting parts must name a generation, or they're marked needs check. Parts that usually carry over (bed, gear tunnel, mats with no cue) get medium confidence. Generic parts with no model named, like charging adapters, are only listed for the brand the shop sells for, so a Tesla adapter won't show up as fitting an R1S.

Right now 78.2% of the 11,399 vehicle-specific products are high or medium confidence (60.8% high).
